Eye Donation: MLA Arekapudi Gandhi calls for greater public participation

Kukatpally: Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi stated that eye donation is the best a person can do to help others in need. Speaking at the National Eye Donation Fortnight celebrations being held as part of World Sight Day at Vasan Eye Care Hospital, PNR Empire Building at Hyder Nagar Division from August 25 to September 8 on Wednesday. The MLA inaugurated the celebration by lighting the traditional lamp. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Gandhi emphasized the significance of eye donation, describing it as the most valuable form of donation and highlighting the crucial role eyes play in our lives.
He noted that vision is essential for experiencing the beauty of nature and stressed that donating one’s eyes after death can restore sight for two individuals. MLA Gandhi lauded the initiative of the awareness conference for educating people about this noble cause and expressed his admiration for Vasan Eye Care Hospital for their role in promoting this effort.MLA Gandhi clarified that eye donation is a simple process that does not alter the appearance of the donor, as only the cornea—the thin layer on the surface of the eye—is needed.
